Exercise 2-3-4P – Ascending 5th Sequences

In the Music Composition 101 Workbook, page 41, the ascending sequence shows a I chord with the mediant of the root instead of a iii chord.

 This happens for all keys.
Is this a mistake or is it the way it’s supposed to be?

That is a mistake. It should be a I6 chord.
